Fasting and Abstinence
Fast Days
Catholics fast on only two days during Lent:
- Ash Wednesday
- Good Friday
What fasting means:
- One full meal
- Two smaller meals that together don’t equal a full meal
- No eating between meals
(Catholics ages 18–59, unless exempt for health reasons.)
Days of Abstinence (no meat)
Catholics abstain from meat on:
- Ash Wednesday
- Good Friday
- All Fridays during Lent
(Catholics age 14 and older.)
