“WOMEN IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: THE MOST MISUNDERSTOOD WOMEN OF THE BIBLE!”
The women of the OLD TESTAMENT were “real flesh and blood,” “salt of the earth” individuals! Sadly, they were too often viewed as a “blip on the screen” and nothing more!
But as we shall see and discover they were women who truly LIVED! Their lives, roles and responsibilities were important in the formation of ancient Israel! They were women: overlooked, simple yet complex, praised and made low. They were wives, mothers, widows, single, sisters, in-laws, members of the civil and faith communities of their day.
Their lives and actions were a witness to the faith in God, the many challenges and hardships they endured as they persevered in their faith.
One author we shall use as a reference wrote this: “Throughout the Old Testament, women are at the center of some of the most critical events in the history of Israel and their relationship with God.
These women were bold and brave, courageous when their lives hung in the balance? They were voices of truth, reason and “common sense.” They were steady ad creative, following God’s direction when it did not make any sense to do so!”
Faith Sharing Series will begin TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1PM AND REPEATED FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 10AM. Bring a Bible, pen and pad; your faith and imagination as we explore together these amazing women of God in the (old) Hebrew Testament!
Because of a schedule conflict, there will be NO sessions the week of September 15th. The weeks of September 22 and 29, BOTH TUESDAY AND FRIDAY SESSIONS WILL BE AT 1 PM ONLY. In the months of October and November, we will be back on our normal days and times.
