Book Groups

Paraclete Book Club

This group reads and discusses present day contemporary, Christian authors that educate and offer their opinions on spirituality, conversion, life of the saints, and issues confronting today’s world. The group currently meets twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 1 pm in the Family Life Center.  New members are always welcome.

Our book selection this month is Bonhoeffer, Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas.  It is a biography of a Christian martyr who submitted to no one and nothing except God and His Word.  The author adds a new dimension to World War II and a new understanding of how evil can seize the soul of a nation and a man of faith can confront it.  Copies of the book are available in the church office, at the public library, and online.  For more information, contact:  Marie D’Ambrosio at (843) 768-7118 or via email.

Mens’ Book Group

Join us in conversations about our faith.   The purpose of the group is to discuss the book, with each member sharing his reactions, thoughts, likes and dislikes etc. It is not a debating society, but there are thoughtful and respectful conversations, with a range of perspectives discussed. The ultimate goal to help each member enrich his unique faith journey. The books are selected by the members on a month-to-month basis.  The group meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 9 am to 11:30 am  in the Family Life Center.  New members are always welcome.  For more information, contact:  Paul McLaughlin at (336) 918-1194 or via email.
