Attending Mass during COVID-19

Thank you to everyone who has been complying with the Charleston County Council emergency ordinance requiring face coverings in public places any time a person is in contact with other people who are not members of their household.  This ordinance applies to the unincorporated areas of Charleston County and all businesses and organizations within that area.  Holy Spirit Catholic Church is located in this area. In the best interest of our faith community, we are requiring that everyone wear a face covering while attending Mass or visiting the office and Family Life Center while the County Ordinance is in effect.

Since our missal, Breaking Bread, is not being used and it doesn’t seem that we’ll be able to put them back in the pews, we decided to offer them for free to anyone who would like personal copy. They will be on a table in the vestibule. Please remember to take it home with you as any books left in the pews will have to be disposed. Feel free to put your name on it and bring it each week to Mass. We hope you find this helpful. We will still print an Order of Worship. In addition, if you use the myParish app, we added a button this week entitled WORSHIP. Click it and you’ll have the Mass parts, Readings and responses at your fingertips. Check it out!

Please remember that the dispensation from Sunday attendance is still in effect and we are recording the weekend liturgy and posting it on our website so that you may watch it at home.

We remind you that the Bishop has recommended that Communion be distributed into the hands of all recipients. Morning Coffee is suspended until further notice.

Currently, our occupancy limit is 450 attendees per Mass while maintaining social distancing and other safeguards.

  • In compliance with the Charleston County Mask Ordinance, please wear a face covering. If you do not have one, seek out an usher to provide one for you.
  • Please be aware that entrance to the church is only through the front doors.
  • Ushers will escort you to your seat when you arrive and will dismiss row by row at the end of Mass.
  • Communion is brought through the pews, please remain seated and extend your arms to help maintain social distancing from the Eucharistic Minister.
  • A single use Order of Worship is available at the entrance, please dispose of it as you leave the church.
  • If you are sick or register a temperature of 99.1 or higher, please do NOT come to church.
  • The Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston has given a dispensation, to all the faithful including those most vulnerable to COVID-19, from attendance of Mass on Sundays.

The Sacrament of Reconcilation has resumed. We are following the published schedule. More information can be found in the bulletin.
